  • Type of Learning (Bloom's Taxonomy): Could work with any level of the taxonomy, depending on what they student is asked to record in their video:  could be anything from recounting what they remember about a topic, to demonstrating their understanding in a presentation, to applying content and demonstrating that in a video, analyzing  situation in a video, evaluating a situation, or even creating a video to demonstrate their understanding of a topic/concept.
  • Type of Learning Experience (Dale’s Cone of Experience): Seems to fit somewhere in the middle of the Cone (Exhibits, Field Trips, Demonstrations) if students are watching the work of other students showing their work or watching the instructor demonstrate actions or visit places.  But, can involve the student who is recording a video in options further down the Cone (Dramatic Participation, Contrived Experiences, Direct Purposeful Experiences) if student is asked to a) create a presentation of what they are learning, b) respond to a problem or case study, or c) reflect and summarize and actual activity.
  • Integration of Tool Into Teaching and Learning:
  • Flip can be used by teachers/instructors to share content in video presentations. Students can create video responses to instructor prompts in the videos, or create their own video reflections/analyses of course content. It gives students a resource for reviewing course materials, even if they miss a live class session. Remote learning provides other interactions using the tool as instructors can deliver course content, take questions from students in recorded videos, and then respond to questions or provide additional content in additional videos. It provides a mutual communication mechanism between students and instructors, and also among student members of groups or within a larger class.
